Tories lose some more: Tamworth and Mid Bedfordshire by-elections ‘one of worst nights any government has endured’
The results from Tamworth and Mid-Bedfordshire represent one of the worst by-election nights that any government has had to endure.
In Tamworth, the 23.9% swing from Conservative to Labour was the second highest in post-war by-election history. No government has previously lost so safe a seat – the Conservatives had a 42% majority in 2019 – to the principal opposition party in a by-election contest.

Number of signatures demanding election approaching one million
The number of signatures on a petition calling for an election to end (Tory-caused) chaos is rapidly approaching the million mark.
A further 300,000 signatures have been added since parliament “debated” the request. Debated is in quotes because the Tories were a no-show to the debate.

Over 150,000 additional signatures were added to the petition calling for a general election
The petition which was stalling out at the mid-six-hundred thousands is not well on its way to eight thousand signatures.

Update: By Saturday 22nd the petition had gone from 788,757 to 836,330 signatures.
Update: By Sunday 23rd it had 855,706 signatures
Update: By Sunday 30th it had 892,784 signatures
