From March 2015 to March 2022, the UK has spent £12.4m on the cancelled flights, according to publicly available Government figures. It has become one of the largest declared “fruitless spends” within government, which is how taxpayer money spent with no benefit is recorded.

Tory Suella Braverman in multiple controversies including possibly illegally overcrowding migrants and lying
Braverman came to the Commons to answer allegations that she had told officials not to spend money on hotel rooms for migrants leading directly to the overcrowding crisis in the Manston migration centre.
Braverman insisted she had never blocked the use of hotels. Government sources call her a liar.
Using far-right language, she called refugees “an invasion on our southern coast”.

Home Secretary Suella Braverman has called the migrant crisis ‘an invasion on our Southern coast’ during a dangerous and incendiary speech on Monday.
She called refugees “an invasion” while doubling down on her commitment to fly people the Tories don’t want in the UK to Rwanda. After all, passing the vulnerable to Africa is good while France letting them come here is bad – so say the Tories.
Remember the system that Braverman called out was put in place by her own party. The Tory Government is asleep at the wheel on immigration.
