The Tory government has given the civil service one year to retain any laws it needs even though it is highly likely to require more than seven years for current staffing levels to do so assuming that they did nothing else.
The government wants to sunset all EU laws despite recent revelations that the government was not even away of a third of such laws as they had entirely missed over a thousand of them. This would cause legal uncertainty, scare away business investment, and over-tax the civil service.
