For all his rhetoric today about “proving the doubters wrong” Jeremy Hunt’s Budget today confirms that the UK is set for a prolonged period of slow growth and declining living standards.

Just in case you forgot Jeremy Hunt’s earlier “work” here’s a reminder.

Hunt is best known for the six years he spent as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, a role he took up in 2012. The NHS in 2022, after a dozen years of Tory austerity and mismanagement, is a threadbare institution in a protracted state of crisis, brought about directly by Hunt on the orders of David Cameron and George Osborne.

In 2012, Jeremy faced calls to resign over his role in the BSkyB takeover. However, he survived the scandal and went on to become health secretary.

In 2017 Jeremy Hunt was accused of presiding over an “absolute scandal” after it emerged thousands of NHS patients may have been put at risk by an administrative blunder.
