Highest rise in UK interest rates since 1989 despite “looming long recession”

The Bank of England raised interest rates by the most since 1989 to 3% from 2.25%. It said Britain’s economy might not grow for another two years.

The pound fell sharply and was down about 2% against the U.S. dollar to its lowest since Tory PM Truss put Britain in a political crisis.

The Tory Government is yet to do anything that will clearly slow inflation and stimulate growth.

Calls for Liz Truss not to take yearly £115,000 as ex-prime minister

Sir Keir Starmer has called on Liz Truss not to claim an allowance of up to £115,000 a year that she would be entitled to after resigning as PM.

Liz Truss announced her resignation from the lectern outside No 10 on Thursday after just 45 days in the job.

It means she will now be able to claim the Public Duty Costs Allowance (PDCA), currently set at £115,000, to which all former prime ministers are entitled.

But the Labour leader said she had “not earned the right” to the allowance.

The Tory Government failed to maintain an agreement with the EU on handling refugees

Now they have a backlog that would not have happened were we still in the EU. This Brexit has failed under Tories and given no benefits.

There are outbreaks of serious diseases in the overcrowded Manston facility for temporary refugee accommodation. However, the Tories have failed.

They said we would “take back control of our borders” instead we have lost control of them thanks to the Tory Government’s incompetence.

Suella Braverman says the system is broken but they were the ones in charge of the system.

Tory Suella Braverman in multiple controversies including possibly illegally overcrowding migrants and lying

Braverman came to the Commons to answer allegations that she had told officials not to spend money on hotel rooms for migrants leading directly to the overcrowding crisis in the Manston migration centre.

Braverman insisted she had never blocked the use of hotels. Government sources call her a liar.

Using far-right language, she called refugees “an invasion on our southern coast”.

Thanks to Tory Brexit the EU has surplus gas while we face blackouts

The UK is facing the prospect of a winter filled with rolling blackouts. The Tory government blames COVID and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, all of Europe has worked together to ensure that they have enough stored energy to keep the lights on and their people warm.

The Tory Government on the other hand has failed to act. The Tory Government was too busy arguing over who should lead it and we will pay the price.

The rest of Europe has stored about as much gas as it can hold
